Changing the World!
Everything about modern life makes me feel unimportant. As much as I would like to do, I'm not going to produce any conspiracy theories as to who would want people to feel this way. I just want to say that I haven't given up and I'm not going down without a good fight!
I always tell myself that my actions have the utmost importance, the deciding power in any matter. If I don't like something about a company -be it the world view of its owner, the advertisements they make, their pricing policy etc.- I prefer another company. If it's serious, I boycott the company and all of its brands and products. I don't just stop buying their products, because that feels so passive. If the company's made me angry, I actively work against them. In my power, I do all I can to convince everyone around me to stop buying their products. I feel like if I buy their products or services I'm responsible for everything that I hate about that company, I made all those things possible. This is both true and not true, I think. Not true, because maybe I had only an infinitesimal, a totally negligible effect. My actions wouldn't have changed the outcome. But true, because we're only responsible for our actions. We don't have the responsibility to vanquish evil from this world, only from our actions. Everyone has this responsibility. If everyone had done this, there would be no evil! And that's why every single person and every single act is very important. That's why I'm the reason for everything that a company or person does if I knowingly support them.
The competition between producers is good for customers. But in almost every sector the number of producers get smaller every year. We're having more and more monopolies. And that's bad. That means, eventually, low quality and high price. So I prefer eating at a small restaurant instead of a chain. I prefer smaller markets instead of Migros or Carrefour. As a rule, I try not to shop at most visited stores and not to buy most selling products. But do all of these have any effect at all? After all, I'm just a single person... Well, I think that's where our feet slip. Let us do the right things, the rest is not our concern.
We are responsible for our actions and also we should start from ourselves, our families, relatives, friends and widen the circle. It really makes me sad to see a person who talks about saving the world and ending the sufferings of people thousands of miles away, but breaking the hearths of people around him/her.
They make us chase a ghost, while they continue profiting from and oppressing us. People wage war against Capitalism, but what is it? How can you fight it? If you're not doing anything about the loanshark in your neighbourhood who gave loan to your desperate next door neighbour with 50% monthly interest, but instead talk about the evil of the banking system, then you are definitely on the right path! Keep talking, your words keep evil at bay, and oppression in check!
