The Very Beginning

Hi, I'm Furkan and this is my second blogging attempt; but you probably lost your way, misspelled the URL, or you wanted to create a blog named "randomthoughts" (like I did), learned that it was taken, so you tried putting random numbers between "random" and "thoughts" and were surprised  to see most of the numbers from 0 to 9 were taken too, so you felt curious and now checking what all these blogs are about. Well, I can assure you that I'll try to use this blog; unlike the guy who took the "randomthoughts" domain. And no, 3 in the middle doesn't mean anything.

I'm writing this blog with the hope of improving my writing skill in English. Therefore, I can't make any promises about the quality of the content. I might form stupid sentences just to use a new word that I learned. But, I can say that this is not a blog about a specific topic. It will most likely be like my personal journal. And the possibility that other people might read it will motivate me to take this blog more seriously, I hope. I don't expect anyone to read this blog, actually. But you never know.

The second reason of this blog is to protect my sanity. You hear stories about hardships of graduate studies, but experiencing them is a completely different thing. Let's just say writing makes me feel relaxed. (I study economics by the way).

And the third reason is I like blogs. Not all of them. The ones that are about someone's life and thoughts and feelings.

Finally, if I mention any places, they will be real, but I will change people's names (my name is real). And while I don't expect anyone to read these, I still hope for someone to read. And any comments are most welcome.

Bloga verdiğim uzun bir aradan sonra bir tanıtım yazısıyla karşınızdayım. Bu yazı hem yazageldiğim konulardan farklı olması, hem de Türkçe olması sebebiyle bu blogun formatından ayrışıyor. Ancak, bloga başlarken belirlediğim hedefe ulaştığım için bir mahzur görmüyorum. Bu yazıyı özelde YLSY bursiyeri olup ömür boyu öğrenme yoluna girmiş meslektaşlarım, ve Tıpta Uzmanlık Sınavına hazırlanan arkadaşım Seyfullah adına (kendisine çok faydalı olacak bu sistemi kullanmaya ısrarlarıma rağmen başlamadığı için, belki bu atıf vesilesiyle başlar umuduyla), genelde de bir şeyler öğrenmeye çalışan herkes adına yazıyorum. Yazının temel konusu ‘nasıl daha etkili öğrenebiliriz’. Kısaca iki şeyden bahsedeceğim: Aralıklı Tekrar Sistemi (Spaced Repetition System) ve bu sistemi uygulayan Anki uygulaması. Tepe

Emin durup sırtında taşıdığı odun parçalarını yere koydu ve kasabanın ucundaki tepeye doğru baktı. Arkadan gelen arkadaşı Emin'in yanında durdu ve,  -Ne oldu, neden durdun? -Sanki bir ışık gördüm.  Arkadaşı Emin'in baktığı yöne doğru baktı ve, -Nerede, tepede mi?   -Evet.   -Emin misin? Oraya kimse çıkmaz ki.   Emin bir süre daha tepeye baktıktan sonra,  -Bilmem, belki de yanlış görmüşümdür. Neyse, hadi şu odunları kasabaya götürelim de biraz ısınalım, bu akşam hava çok soğuk.  Böylelikle, yağan karın da etkisiyle yerdeki karların içinde kaybolmaya başlayan odun parçalarını tekrar sırtlarına yükleyip kasabanın yolunu tuttular.   ----------------------------------- Yine bir akşam üzeri, Emin ve arkadaşı topladıkları odunlarla kasabaya dönerlerken, Emin aynı yerde durdu. THE SKY IS BLUE: STORIES (My New Book)

  Check the book here     My book is published! There are seven stories inside. Here is my favorite story -the one that gave the book its name: THE SKY IS BLUE LEIB’S BEEN EXERTING ALL HIS WILL TO KEEP HIS EYELIDS OPEN. How could something so thin and small feel this heavy? Such a waste, too. All this effort to stay awake… It could be used for something productive… like sleeping. Even the wooden bench he was sitting on wouldn't bother him. He could just curl up and… No, maybe it would bother him. The bit right in the middle that's been poking at his leg would probably ruin his sleep. He wished he'd taken the instructions more seriously, and carved the wood evenly. That’d seemed like a waste too, making your own bench… Why can't we use the benches of the graduating students, he'd asked.
